Salesforce certifications are globally recognized credentials that validate knowledge of the platform and provide a competitive edge in finding job opportunities worldwide ????
If you’re about to take your first certification exam, here are some tips to simplify your experience:
1. Register in Advance
All exams must be registered for in advance through Webassessor.
On this page, you’ll select the certification to take, schedule the exam date, and enter discount codes before making payment (if you have one).

2. Multiple Choice
The exams consist of 40 to 65 multiple-choice questions. In some cases, there is only one correct answer, while in others, there may be several.
The passing percentage depends on the certification. For the Salesforce Associate certification — which we recommend for beginners in the Salesforce ecosystem — a score of 62% correct answers is required to pass.
3. Time Limit and Language
Certifications that are not Associate-level have a time limit of 105 minutes and are in English.
If English is not your first language, Salesforce offers the option to add 30 extra minutes to the exam. This request should be made before scheduling the exam in Webassessor:

- Press “Contact Trailhead Help” -> “Certifications” -> Complete: “Certifications Certification Exam Registration”
- Step 3: Other Certification Registration Questions
- Press the “Log a Ticket” button and fill in the request with your Webassessor user details and the certification you wish to take.
If you’ve already scheduled the exam, you can still request the extended time, but we recommend doing so at least a week before your exam date.
4. Virtual Mode
While there are some centers where you can take certifications in person, the most common method is virtual. In this case, it’s important to remember:
- Be alone in the room
- Use a camera
- Do not use headphones
- Do not have items on the desk: watch, phone, papers, etc.
- Use a background with no objects
- Ensure a good internet connection
5. Support Contact
In case you lose your internet connection during the exam, it’s important to have the support contact to file a complaint in real time.

6. Exams Are Paid
Prices vary according to the certifications, ranging from $200 to $400 USD.
Salesforce launched a series of Associate-level certifications designed to validate the knowledge of individuals starting in the Salesforce ecosystem. Salesforce Associate is the most basic certification Salesforce offers and costs $75 USD.
Within the Associate category, you’ll also find Salesforce AI Associate and Marketing Associate certifications.
7. Practice!
Practice is key to succeeding in your exam. Salesforce offers exam guides on Trailhead so you can familiarize yourself with the format and types of questions.
8. Certifications Expire
All certifications must be renewed once a year.
